A post about helmets on the Cycling Equipment forum got a bit off topic (but interesting) about bees flying into helmet vents... so here's the question.
What's the weirdest, funiest, horriblest encounter with animals (mammals, reptiles, insects, err... sea life???) while cycling.
I have two to start off (not very exciting though) 1. A very large flying beetle hit me right between the eyes a couple of weeks ago. 2. swallow a small moth that fluttered all the way down.
I've been stung by bees, wasps etc. several times. Involuntarily eaten various unidentified insects (hard to know what it is once you've swallowed it). Been forced to outrun several dogs.
This leads me to another question:
Why doesn't a headwind seem to affect the dog's speed?

We are now looking for a supplier of bike-mountable deer whistles.
Do they actually work? Lots of dear in my kneck of the woods - wouldn't wanna tangle with one either! Nothing - so far - has leapt out to take me out cos I can do that ALL by my lonesome! These are hillarious to read though! (until of course it happens to me right!?!?!)
