hm. as i've never known anyone with a yuni frame, i've never
gotten to try it. i think my entire schwinn setup (from seat
to wheel weighs 14 pounds.)
agreed, i'm not marvelling in it's lightness, but the
rotational mass is much less now that i've built a new wheel
with a sun alloy double-wall rim instead of the old raleigh
england 700c steel rim i was using.
so perhaps I am looking to get schooled at UNICON this year
by racers that have lighter, newer frames, but I am just
happy to be riding a 700c that i designed and built with my
own 2 hands.
perhaps I will get laughed at and mocked for it's 2.5 tone
black and white paintjob, and for the fact that it's not
the *hottest ride out there* but that's not what it's
about for me.
For me, unicycling is a religion. Unicycling, as one of my
friends put it so well is "finding that magic balance that
makes flying possible, or at least falling less probable"
and maybe I'm not a world-class rider. maybe i don't deserve
to go to UNICON, but someone has to come in last, and if
it's me, then I'm just happy that nobody else had to do it.
But I'll sure as heck be the only 700c racer from Charlotte,
NC that trains on the city streets by racing the bike
messengers while dodging pedestrians, hot dog vendors,
skateboarders, dogs, and almost getting hit by cars while
wearing my cycling shorts, helmet, and bike shoes on
my...
self-designed reforged handbuilt 1976 schwinn frame with a
wheel i built myself and 5" cranks ending with toeclipped
pedals and straps
btw, i don't find it flexy at all.
(I'm not ranting at you, John, I'm just ranting because I'm
still trying to get over circus school auditions... Not only
did I go there and get totally amazed by the other
applicants and current students , but I also took that
opportunity to make a fool out of myself for thinking that I
might even have a chance to go to that school. ever. heh.
not after seeing people do standing back layouts for part of
their auditions.)
