  1. I've never used this but just bought a jar. I know it's
added to hummus, but would anyone have other recipes to
share. I'm thinking perhaps chinese or indian - but not too
sure. Thanks so much, I really enjoy this group and learning
    new stuff!

You can make you own tahini as well, if you have a food
processor. I do it by combining sesame seeds and peanut oil
along with a little garlic. No particular recipe, it just
has to be ground until it is smooth. I like it a bit
smoother than canned. You can go to a bagel shop or bread
bakery and buy a volume of seeds prolly for less than you'd
pay at a supermarket. Tastes way better hom-made.

    Look to:

for a few recipes for hummus. Basically just tahini,
garbanzos (chick peas), parsley, water oil and garlic.

It's considered a "national food" in Isreal.

Thanks for the tip - now I know how to make it, I won't
buy such a big jar. BTW tried to get on the site, but
    couldn't....I'll keep trying. Merci!

I made hummus and - well, it was horrible - or perhaps I
    just don't like chick peas.

1/2 cup tahini sauce juice of lemon 4 garlic cloves can of
chick peas and their juice little bit of water 1 tbs of
olive oil salt, pepper to taste

Did I do something wrong? Elaine

Sorry I don't have my recipe available right off ahnd, but
it looks about right. Hummus is one of those things that
either you like it or hate it.

However, the chick peas should have been drained and rinsed.
That slimey junk in the can has got to go.

too much liquids (1/2 lemon, bit of juice, no water
    added...) best,
