Earlier today on the previous oyster thread I replied
"Surely you jest. . .etc" to someone who said he couldn't
find oysters in NY.
I walked around the neighborhood and took a census.
Downstairs, less than 50 feet from the elevator in the
building I live in, there were:
Malpeque (PEI) Caraquet (Nova Scotia?) Kumumoto (WA)
(They also had live scallops and razor clams, among
other things)
At Citarella:
Cape Cod Bluepoint Belon (European flats grown in Maine)
Wellfleet (Great oysters from MA) PEI, bed unidentified.
At local bars:
Union Square cafe
Duxbury (MA) Hama Hama (WA) Totten Inlet (WA)
Blue Water Grill
Gigamoto (WA) Stranges Bay (BC) Pacific Orchard (BC) Beau
Soleil (NS) Malpeque (PEI)
All except Citarella within 2 minute walk. Citarella about
6 minutes.
I don't feel terribly deprived.
