I'm looking to buy clipless pedals now, but I want to retain
the ability to use ordinary shoes as well.
I've been looking at the Shimano M324 and M424. The
former is type with a platform one side, SPD mechanism
the other. The latter apparently supports ordinary shoes
on the pedal outer.
Any comments, pros, and cons for these two? I'll be using
them on the road and on paths, not on actual mountains, so
I'm not bothered about mud etc.
Cycleexpress.co.uk have the former for 29 quid, the latter
for 23 quid. Are Cycleexpress a reputable place? And is
fitting pedals easy enough for an idiot like me?
Also, regarding the SPD shoes that look like ordinary
leisure shoes/trainers - are they comfortable enough to
replace trainers, or are they just "not bad for walking
around for a short while during a ride" comfortable?
Last thing - how do the cleats attach to the shoe?
