Hi all, I've been lurking for a while, but I bet this is
question you may not have seen before. I'm an adult woman
with ADD. I take a standard med for ADD, which is dexadrine.
Medically sanctioned etc!
I workout regularly and always have done so. Last year, I
bought my own Spinner bike, so I get about 3 hours/week of
good cycling. But recently (4 weeks ago), I felt as though
I'd hit a plateau and needed better crosstraing. And more
importantly, I felt I needed some exercise that actually
used my whole-body coordination better, such as running. So
after a several-year absence, I took up running on a
treadmill. I took it prudently, so as to avoid injury, and
as of today, I ran an easy 3 miles (no effort), after 45
min on bike.
My questions concern overall traning. Does anyone here know
much about training while on dexadrine? I take a low dose,
and I don't feel winded etc when exercising. But I am
concerned about overall effects on a traning schedule. Do
the same rules apply to me as to someone not on dex?
I imagine a lot of runner have ADD, as the intense exercise
is one way of dealing with symptoms. But does anyone here
take ADD meds.
In general, I am interested in any knowledgable -- or
educated guesses on my overall approach. Many thanks!
