  1. So I was thinking of a birthday gift for my gf's mtn biker
friend and thought some Dirt Rag swag would be cool. So's I
order some socks, some for me, too, and their 16 oz coffee
mug. I mention I need it by this weekend for the birthday so
I'll do 2 day shipping. I receive an email that it would
ship out on Monday and be here yesterday. After work I find
the package on the steps, it looks great, but when I pick it
up I hear a rattle. Uh oh, unless they sent some extra swag
the mug is broken. I open it up and after digging through
all the packing materials, it was packed VERY WELL, I
    discover a very broken mug.

So last night I send an email that it was broken and figured
I'd follow up this morning if I didn't receive a reply back.
But sure enough, when I got to work there was an email
waiting for me that they were shipping me a mug for next day
delivery and I hadn't even reminded them of the birthday.

And I'm going to discourage everyone I know from using UPS.
I have not received, nor have I had a buyer receive from me,
one broken item from the USPS or FedEx but I can't count the
number of things broken by UPS.

Also, the email customer service of Dirt Rag is excellent.
In comparison my email to Avid that I sent weeks ago
regarding my broken Juicys was finally responded to today. I
had long since given up and called them.

If you don't shorten the hoses you'll most likely see
nothing wrong with them. But the hoses were far too long for
my 5" inch travel fork so I just had to shorten them. If you
do pull them apart to do whatever maintenance you might do
on the hoses there is a nagging issue with the compression
nuts that hold the hose in the lever body. It seems to be
quite brittle and many times will crack before it's tight
enough to hold the brake fluid
    in.

My rear brake is holding up fine but I'm now getting ready
to do my front brake for the 4th time in the hopes of not
cracking the compression nut. You could call me hamfisted
but the last two times I tried this the nut cracked
looooooooong before it would hold fluid in.

I'm crossing my fingers this time. Now my hose is getting
short enough that I'm going to need a new one if I have to
    start over again.

Are you another Giant XTC/AC1 rider? The Hayes comps on mine
were used as all hell, but they work great. I ride the AC1
often... to class and the like, and when I switch over to
    the XTC, it's like "whoa!"

Nope. Just an AC1 rider. Xtc is my nick.I 1st used it online

I just installed some Goodridge hoses. After seeing how
disgustingly simple and easy they are to put together, i
think compression nuts should be outlawed.

It's a two piece screw in fitting system. One piece (sleeve)
that fits over the hose, then the other fitting screws
itself inside the hose and into the sleeve as the same time.
Both are made out of stainless steel and are reusable.

Expensive, but very nice and fail proof as far as
installation is concerned. They are also kink proof.. don't
ask me how I know this ;-) , but I do. I'll find out about
    their performance in the morning.

    Time for night night.

Yeah... I pretty much abused my Skareb. I did lots of stairs
and 3-foot drops every once in a while on that fork. I still
abuse it because I think it's a good fork (especially after
I replaced the cracked lowers), but it was really fortunate
that I got the AC1 arrived in the mail right after the
damping broke on the XTC 😉
