do walk a lot on a daily basis. Top priority would be "waterproofness". Don't want to spend a
fortune, top price of around 80 pounds. Would be grateful for some guidance, the more I look at
sites the more confused I get.

When I asked a similar question some time ago the people here suggested Brasher Hillmaster Clasics,
so this is what I bought. I've never regretted this, I can vouch for their watertightness and
comfort, certainly on the longish walks (25-plus km) over wet and boggy ground that I've been doing
recently. When I bought them, mine were on offer at Millets at a bit less than your budget price.
If you feel like taking advice from someone who isn't an expert, do yourself a favour and buy
yourself a pair of 10,000-mile socks and a pair of gaiters, too.
Apropos of nothing in particular, did you know that Millets and Blacks are the same firm? Here in
Reading they glare at each other across the same street and I used to have visions of cut-throat
competition between them <g>.
Regards, Nick.
