Right its the most popular city for foreigners.
Quoted message said:Down here in AU, whenever you see travel information about Germany, it's all beer halls (usually
Hoffbrau(sp?) House), a photo of
You mean Hofbraeuhaus (ae = Umlaut a, a special german letter).
Quoted message said:the square (name?) outside the Glockenspiel (main sqaure in the old centre of Munich),
I've been only 3 or 4 times in Munich, but I didn't remember that name.
Quoted message said:and *maybe* a photo of the TV-tower or
If you're near the TV-Tower you're near the Olympic Stadium, if you mean that tower.
Quoted message said:the Reighstags Building (parliment) in Berlin.
If you come there, cross the Brandenburg Gate and go down the road "Unter den Linden" then you'll be
in the District called Berlin-Mitte, that the former East-Berlin. Most interesting parts there are,
the "Palast der Repbulik", The Museum Island with "Pergamon Museum" and to other museums and the
Cathedral of Berlin.
Youll find stones let in the road near Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate, so you can see where the
"Mauer" went along.
Quoted message said:Add a few Barvarian paddocks or farmhouses for fillers.
That kind of farmhouses you'll find alll over the alpes there typical for the alpes, but not only
typical for Bavaria.
Quoted message said:Actually, thinking about this a bit more - all the Romantich Strasse too (Neuschwanstien,
Rothenburg, et. al.).
I think you mean "Straße der Romantik". But Neu-Schwanstein is a tourist trap, but there are other
interesting castles at that street. "Rothenburg ob der Tauber" is a very nice middle aged city.
If you're interessted in the middle-aged history of Germany its a very good chose. You'll find some
national parcs in Bavaria to. The oldest and biggest is the "Bayrische Wald" (Near the Czech
border), but I think that's to far east from your planned tour. You can find that kind of forest
along your tour too.
Quoted message said:I expect it's much the same for Australia in Germany - a picture of Sydney Harbour, QLD
Beaches/Reef, and "The Outback". It's what the travel companies think people want to see.
Put Ayeres Rock, some kangoos, some emus to that and your're right.
But if you really want, you can get very good literatur about Australia. I hope can plan sometime a
biycile holiday in australia
I think Australia is to big to do it in a 2-weeks holiday. I'm not afraid to get into a plane. But
Europa - Australia is a very long flight. Here in our villages is someone who travels to his brother
near Sydney every year. He stays there normally five weeks.
Quoted message said:Would these still be snowy in April ?
Yes, some areas have snow till may. For a Tranalp cycle its best time July or August.
Quoted message said:I read that it's an excellent ride down from one of the passes into Italy... but then you read
the bit that says "Be prepared for snow, even in summer" - not something I wanted to tow the
kids through.
It depends how high that passes are and at what time you're going there. In general some warm
clothes are a good insurance in the alpes.
Quoted message said:Actually around Kirchzarten (SW Germany, between Freiburg and Titisee) there was heaps of mountain
biking stuff, including a mountain-biking school, which I thought was an exceedingly good idea.
Nice campground here too. Saw lots of MTB-dudes on fantastic machines.
Okay, if you wan to do a MTB-Tour, southern Germany is a good chose, if you want to stay in Germany.
But Austria and Swiss have the higher mountains.

Homer Simpson drooling noise>
[...] Malty beer has no alcohl!
IIRC Andechs Doppelbock Dunkel Bier is a bit under 8%
That not Malty beer, thats calles "Starkbier". The black and the dark has to do with the brewing.
Quoted message said:I made a beer tasting diary, recording each beer, how it was, where I got it, and the alcohol %. I
failed to record the % for Andechs I must admit, but I can assure you it is not 0%.
I knew, Andechs is a very special brewery. There only a very few brweries, which are brewing
"Starkbier". Usulay you can get "Pils" everywhere.
