If they tried harder they could probably skid more often.

Very cool, dewd. The title of the post should read, what it's really like to be a shuttle monkey
skidiot. From what the ending "credit" says, he's proud to not have a front "brake" and just as well
proud to be the skidiot shuttle monkey that he so obviously is. He deserves a boot to the head for
his lame efforts.
Another observation, since that trail is obviously so well used by those of his idiotic ilk, do you
think it could be braided any more? I wonder how much of what he was riding was the original line?
That's the kind of [censored] that gets trails closed to legitimate mountain bikers.

Judging by the jumps, drops and course tape it's almost certainly a DH course on private land. Added
to that, it's in Australia where they don't have the same trail access issues as those of you in the
US. He's actually doing nothing wrong.

Are you certain of this, or is this just your judgement? When did you last ride there? Are you
responsible for some of that obnoxious trail braiding?

When did you move to Australia and become a trail advocate there?

You're blind, aren't you? Last time I checked, IMBA (the "I" is for INTERNATIONAL) rules of the
trail state "Control Your Bicycle" and that lamer isn't even close.
Face it Jon, that video is a perfect example of what not to do on a trail, no matter where it is.

He's doing a better job than I could (not hard!) What is he doing wrong? He seems in control for the
whole run except the part where he stacks. He's kicking up dirt in the corners, but can you go that
fast without kicking up dirt?

I'm not trying to be smart or anything, but he seemed to be doing ok - are you suggesting he should
slow down to preserve the trail? Would using a front brake make a difference? I guess being a DH'er
he's always on the rear brake through corners - DH'ers?

It's an informed judgement. That's a proper DH course and all the ones I know of are now private.

Haha, ok, so last year's DH World Cup winner doesn't know how to control a bicycle...

On a public access trail, I totally agree with you. However, what's wrong with someone at the top of
the sport practicing on a closed trail?

I'd agree, he does seem to be in control. At least as much in control as anyone can be on a pushbike
off road, I've seen many riders doing both XC and DH under much less Control than this guy.
Regardless of what speed your going there's always an element of danger that you might crash, that's
why we do it isn't it? So where is the "Control" limit? Surely the "Control Your Bicycle" rule is
being adhered to in this example. He doesn't *want* to crash... That, and the fact that the rider is
the current downhill world cup holder would lead me to believe that he knows how to control a bike.?

more than one route around an obstacle, Do you know what a braided river channel is?Same concent,
except made by riders cutting multiple routes.

A front brake is 60% of your braking power. It's how you control your speed WITHOUT skidding. Using
a rear brake for most of your speed control promotes skidding, washboarding, and tearing up the
surface of the trail.
