OT: Any Gravity software users here?

Using the old V2.5 myself as well, tried SuperGravity but it kept crashing every so often and losing
the whole database :/

Great, that's the version that I'm using. Do you know any way of showing the posts so that the
latest date is at the top? I thought it would be as simple as clicking the date column header so
that the sorting is reversed, but that doesn't seem to work.

Thanks in advance. I'm actually growing to like this better than Outlook Express. I've used OE for
so many years though, that changes take a while to get used to!

The other thing I have been trying to do is 'mark' a thread in some way (say for instance, one that
I started?) so that even when I 'mark all as read' (catch up) it still appears so that I can follow
the complete thread and not just the new posts.

Ideas?

Works fine for me. You probably just need to play with the sorting for far left column (the one with
an arrow symbol) to get your threads back in order properly

Right click on the thread name, click "mark thread as", click "protected". To undo this click
"deletable" instead of protected.

Well, I've just tried some tests and although it works it also expands all the threads. I
can collapse the threads but when I close Gravity and reopen it reverts to the latest post
at the bottom.

Not a major problem though. Oh, and I'm using 2.5.

Yes, I agree! When I first upgraded from 98 to XP I set up my desktop to classic! Resistance to
change I guess. I'm now using XP and loving it, I won't be reverting back to OE either...promise :-)

crashes and wotnot.

Having tried this and several other newsreaders for some time, I went for 40tude Dialog (freeware).
I had nearly given up hope until I saw this software and I couldn't believe such a great newsreader
existed. It even supports mouse-gestures!

I switched to XP in August and haven't had a crash since. Its remarkably more stable than previous
versions of Windoze.

Perzackerly. With XP home edition I only need a mid-session re-boot about twice a week compared to 5
or 6 times an evening with ME. Getting up towards merchantable quality.

I can, and though it's better than NT and 9x it's nowhere near as reliable as NetWare or Solaris
which we're using here to do tougher things more reliably (we have a crash a year, if that, as a
typical failure rate on each platform). Fitting in with everyone else expecting to run Windows is
the main reason to run Windows here.
