Thanks, yes I did read the CTC article. Am planning to do it in 07, but with a bit more sleep and
leaving a bit more of a margin than the young lady in the article! an amazing acheivement
nevertheless. The only others I spoke to on various SR rides this year were all on their 4th /5th
attempts so had it down to a fine art. Some of them even managed a couple of nights sleep!

There's a chap, Dave, (Australian I think) that rides the monthly Origami rides with the Folding
Society who did PBP this year on a rebuilt 1960s Moulton Stowaway with 2 speed hub gear - YES you
read that correctly, TWO speed - as he put it : One for up and one for down !

Without doubt he is as fit as the proverbial butcher's dog.

I don't believe he was a first time PBPer but nevertheless his account in the latest Moultoneer
magazine is interesting - I'm not sure whether it's published on the web - if not then enquire
through the Folding Society pages.

As for sharing experiences, if I did it would only be after a signed disclaimer that everyone would
accept them as my own experiences, not intended to represent anyone else's version of PBP :-)

Will do, thanks. Like every major ride there is always some good old eccentric (or even multiple
numbers thereof) who turns up and does it on the most improbable machine you can think of, good luck
to him!. From what I have heard most British riders do it on sensible Audax bikes but a lot of
French turn out on TdF style full racers.

Something like a 700 on the front , and he had a bar bag as well.

There are plenty of sites now with diaries, photos etc

Which is where anyone based in the UK contemplating the PBP needs to start.... A major function of
AUK is to ratify qualification rides. Without the relevant ratified qualification events within the
prescribed period, you don't start the PBP.

AUK also runs an email group on Yahoo.

As soon as you have completed your SR series of ride you can enter. Must be done by late
June usually.

I think all your qualifiers get sent in advance to ACP so they can ratify them in advance. I assume
it's automatic if you have done the 4 qualifying rides but IMBW (they are all highlighted PBP in the
AUK handbook and the Brevet card for these rides is a special PBP cover). Presumably they don't take
advance entries.

I did an SR this year with no intention of going on to do PBP, and in the end could not anyway
because my 400 was too late. I think I was the only rider on the 400 not doing PBP.

Entries for PBO 2007 will be after yuor qualifiers, which you must also do in 2007.

PBP is still probably THE 1200 though. i can't imagine peopple in Uk standing outside in the middle
of the night calling out ' courage' or offering free drinks
