We have other plans on Thursday, but turkeys are so cheap, I bought one and roasted it Sunday and we
had some of the fixin's but not what we usually have. My plan was not to make the full spread, just
treat it like a big chicken - I roast those all the time, no big deal. Then we invited some
relatives, and it was a real dinner after all. This is funny, because we've done a real feast every
year, with 25 guests, three turkeys, etc., until this year.
We did somewhere in the middle of all the options you listed. We had sugarfree pumpkin custards with
cool whip. We did make the traditional giblet stuffing (but not the cornbread stuffing with
hardboiled eggs and sausage), and mashed potatoes, peas, cranberry sauce, gravy... We didn't make
the pearl onions in gruyere sauce, and we just roasted the butternut squash plain (my wife grew up
with it mashed with lots of butter and salt). No apple pie, no homemade bread.
On my second glass of wine, I said, "aw to heck with it," and decided I was just going to skip
logging my points at all. It's only one day, after all. I did go back for seconds.
Later on, I decided I ought to go ahead and log my points after all. It took me a while to put it
all in, guessing at how much of each thing I ate.
I'll tell you, the WW web site is starting to tick me off! I just went to look, and it says I had 13
points left that day! I know I put about 35 points in for dinner alone. It was a real hit to the
flex points. Right now, it only shows 10.5 points for the turkey. ARGGGH! I want to find their
webmaster and punch him in the nose. The real aggravation is that it threw out my activity points,
and I had earned 5 of them that day!
I have no idea where I stand for the week now. Okay, I have nothing good left to say, so I'll just
stop here.

Carol in NC said:Hi everyone,
Thanksgiving is just a couple of days away. How are you planning to treat the day? Do you have
special recipes that you are using, or are you planning to eat less of normal fare. (or spurge?)
Are you nervous about it? Relaxed? Stressed?
I made my menu today, and did a bit of both..some lighter recipes...some of my normal things...and
left out some things altogether. I really think my mind set is very different with WW this time.
I'm not stressed about the extra food...I'm going to just see how I feel on the day and eat what
seems right as well as making sure to take a very long walk in the morning.
I've seen so many people on the WW message boards totally consumed with how they are going to get
through the day without blowing the diet. It really made me ponder the whole
holiday/food/entertaining issue and how food plays such a big part in it.
Thoughts? Carol
