  1. Johnny Chainring wants to keep up with Sammy Sandbagger in a Cat5 crit that's coming up in 18 weeks. He has three 6 week training plans he can use to prepare for the event. Plan A is a solid CTL builder alot of L3 with some maintainence VO2Max built in. Plan C is a perfect FTP peaking regime with a two week taper at the end. Plan B is a perfect intermediate between A and C. Which combination of training plans is more likely to work?

One and a half of mine 😄

  3. True no doubt but I'm still enjoying the journey and in a strange way still enjoying not knowing what my limit is🙂

  4. 18 weeks? For a crit that's a ton of time, especially a cat 5 crit which is probably only 12 miles or something. If you think you can keep it up mentally, I'd do only FTP work for about 10 of those weeks. Then start mixing in some L5 stuff, and if you want to win, some L6/L7, but be sure to keep up the L4 as well through at least week 16 or you'll hit an early peak.

  5. I tried to fit the three plans together and see if plan B had any value at all. Because I'm not sure it does in my amateur opinion I'm thinking it burns CTL without much return and leaves you mentally and physically unprepared for plan C. I have a painfully honest PT now so if I'm not ready I'll just save my money and shoot for a PB on my favorite rides this year. Maybe I'll have Alex plan it for me next time:eek:
