I would like to lighten my BB from Centaur to something else. I note that FSA makes a BB in 110.5 mm, and, of course, the Campy version is 111 mm. Will I experience problems with this substitution ? Is the 0.25 mm per side that crucial ?
Thanks in advance for your wisdom. --

.25mm is not very large at all, is it? But, if the FSA BB is not Campy-specific, the tapers will be wrong. The angle of the tapers on all square-taper bottom brackets are the same, but the diameters (min/max) are different.

Hi, It sure would be nice if more TECH talk involved less abbreviations - BB? FSA? Some people might be able to learn a few things.
Thanks, Dan

Not the same taper(larger) so you will deform the cranks and have a not proper chainline.
Phil wood makes a nice one but you are going to save maybe 100 grams or so( 3 ounces), not worth the $, IMO-

Thanks - my research also found Amercian Classics weighing in around 130. Comments ? I still don't know if the 0.25 mm is a worry. Some writers make big things out of nothing ; others the reverse.

Still only saving 150 grams, 5 ounces...on a what, 175 pound(8000 grams, 2800 ounces)+ bike and rider package?
I think you left out a zero there.

A few years ago, Shimano's quoted chainline for tapered cranks and two chain rings were: 43.5mm +/-1.1mm (Dura-Ace) 44.5mm +/- 1.5mm (non-Dura-Ace)
