Can Schumacher repeat his tour wins or will the heat and humidity get to him again? Bruseghin will want to repeat his Giro hilly TT win. Can Cancellara get revenge for his defeats in the tour?

One person who i havent seen mentioned in the build up is Botero. He finished 7th in the road race and so is in form. Maybe he will have trained specifically for this as he hasnt been able to play a part in the big events so far this year?

Botero's performance has been all over the place this year--just like most years. I bet his undiluted hematocrit is 60%.

Rogers to medal but come up a little short for gold. Cancellara to win.

I'll pick Bruseghin, Karpets & Cancellara for the top 3

I'm hoping Evans or Rogers for the win though, Evans the more likely of the 2 and could well do it. (Evans would be my 4th pick for probable the top 3)

Emma Pooley of Great Britain leads the womens ITT by almost 2 minutes. She has a time of 35:16 with Boyarskaya in second I think at 37:14. Britain's gold medallist in the RR, Nicole Cooke, is yet to ride I believe.

Looks like Britain could get another gold.

Thurig (SUI) is now second at 35:51... with Zabirova (KAZ) third so far at 36:29.

Zabirova now replaced by Arndt in third place with a time of 35:59

The 49 year old Longo (FRA) is now third with 35:52. Maybe Longo could hold off for a medal?

Nicole Cooke goes through in 16th place at the approximate two-thirds check point. She looks tired... probably from Sunday's big effort.

Kristen Armstrong (USA) moves into first place with a time of 34:51.72.

Cooke comes in at 13th place at this stage with a time of 37:14.

Looks like that is going to be the medals. The reigning World Champ Kupfernagel is "laying an egg" on the course atm... and won't place. She comes in 11th and is really disappointed.

Contador is ahead on the first circuit of the course (halfway point)... ahead of Cancellara, Leipheimer, Evans... everyone.

It would have been helpful to get a profile of the course before guessing who was going to win.

Looks like a Funetes client will win again. Hamilton in Athens and Contador is going to win by at least 15 minutes.....

So then it involves a 10km climb at 4%. No wonder Contador said he was focusing on the time trial. Weight is a bigger factor than on a flat TT. I couldn't find the profile anywhere, or even a description of the course... on CN or the Olympic website.

BTW - I'm watching live streaming video... not Cyclingnews live web report.

Looking at how the times of riders like the Z-Man picked up time in the last section, it looks like Cancellara may have the advantage over Contador.

This will toad the wet sprocket if another Spanish doper wins.

I didn't come back until it was over. The live feed I was looking at Bro gave me the link at the Olympics start....is our NBC network website, nbcolympics.com. Not available outside the US I think. I see Rolfrae has given a UK link.

Contador faded in the second half. He had passed his 90 second man who was in front of him, Steff Clement.... then Clement passed him again a few hundred metres from the end.
