I just put XO shifters with X9 rear mech on my Orange. The shifting is faultless and the mech
has already taken a few whacks with no problems. The "tornado" pattern on the XO is more
positive gripwise.

I did do a Google search, on SRAM,Chris,wrist,broke* and several combinations thereof without any
results except your original post.

I definately see your point. I though the term "halfpipe" referred to the short ones but I see now
they don't. Didn't even know the long ones existed anymore as they're not available on any local web-
shops nor can I remember seeing them on SRAM's web-site. The X.9 shortys (tinyurl.com2p8n6=Open ↗)
is what I want (currently running Centera/5.0).

BTW, what's up with SRAM's web-site ? I haven't been able to get in for days now, is it just me ?

What about the X.9's? What is SRAM think about with those things? I've had mine for a bout a month
and they have never been right ... Tighten down the mounting bolt and you can't get them to twist
... loosen them up and they twist all over the place, but still won't shift. And what's with the
funky pointy things sticking out? Sure they give you plenty of leverage to twist with, but I keep
getting my fingers stuck. Someone told me you're supposed to shift with your thumb ... but how can
you twist it with just your thumb.

I don't know what he's talking about but with the Half Pipe shifters the little 2" grip on the end
pulls off the bar very easily unless you wire both ends. I found myself "grabbing air" with those
shifters at least once. They are good if you are an XC racer on a variable course who likes a
steady cadence that requires many up and down shifts per minute. I'm not sure if SRAM is even
making them for 2004.
