share your view, the manipulation of statistics is hardly news.

He does write on that thought; bad methodology,
selective sampling, sample bias all appear in his column.

I've googled his site (badscience.net) for references to cycle helmets
before as I thought it was the kind of thing he might do, and he's
mentioned them once in passsing - he compares some other mildly dubious
practice to "like selling cycle helmets: slim evidence, but not exactly
pushing crack to children" or something like that.
