  1. This post has not come up here in either group, people have emailed me from both groups telling me
about it Rest assured that it is a screwed up, evil jackass that has done this.

I happened to check on at 11 last night looking for an email about a birth and was amazed at 50 or
more emails asking about this. I immediately called the family, although I knew that Ellie would
never post such a thing, she would call me.

Rest assured that Michael is doing well, considering what he has been thru. He will probably leave
ICU today. Doctors believe that the fluctuating BP is due to a growth on the adrenal gland. They
have run some tests and sent them to Mayo Clinic, results in a week or so.

Somebody email me if you see this post. I'm having a problem getting both rec.food.cooking and alt.true-
crime to come up with the messages.

I cried myself to sleep last night, but waking up to this news just made my day. What a relief.

I've seen many different kinds of trolling over the years, but this has to have been the most vile.

Y'know, it briefly popped into my head that as you have been Michael's Usenet spokesperson for the
past week or so, why weren't *you* posting that news? Then I figured that I don't know your family's
dynamics that well, and it was probably legit. I've rarely been so glad to be wrong!

Hurray!!!! Please keep us updated; and unless a post comes from you (I've been studying your
    headers), I won't believe it.

Would it be possible to get an address to send Michael a card?

Thanks for the news, Sarah! (Posted and e-mailed)

I hope you're getting your messages OK now. What an unbelievably cruel thing for that poster to do.
Fortunately, I saw your "good news" post before I saw the other. I just cannot understand that
    mentality or lack of compassion.

It's good to know that Michael is slowly coming out of the woods. Thanks for keeping us
    posted, Sarah.

Obviously, I've not been paying close enough attention to rfc lately, just skimming for
interesting food topics and ignoring the usual brackground noise. Today I slowed down long enough
to catch this thread, wondering what all the hub-bub is. I was stunned to realize this is a life
and death incident concerning our own Dog3. I went to the archives and caught up on the whole
    unfortunate story.

I'm can only say how happy I am that, having finally tuned in, it's on a hopeful note. This is a
very sad episode, Dog3 being like an old friend on rfc. My hopes and good wishes are very much with
Dog and his family. I will think nothing but positive thoughts about Dog's recovery and eventual
return to rfc. To wit: "OK, Dog. You made Nancy cry. Now get well and get your ass back here!". 🙂

I could wish ill of the scumbag who perpetrated this foul deed, but he is undoubtedly already
suffering in the Hell that is his pathetic life.

    swift return 🙂

Yeah, I played right into the hoax because I'd been waiting all day for news. But, really, who would
think someone would go out of their way to pull a stunt like that. What a loser.

In another group I read (support for my ISP) there is a poster who is trying to track down the
idiot. Unfortunately, it was posted through Google on an ATT account.

Best wishes to Dog3 for a rapid recovery.

Some people become physically ill and they get help from the medical establishment. Other people
grow mentally ill and help is not always available or taken advantage of. It looks like someone who
needs mental help has Internet access and is getting his or her yucks by starting a rumor about
    Michael's condition. That's sad.

I did, too. I wrote a long email to "Ellie", pouring my heart out about Michael and how I felt about
our friendship. Someone may have had a good laugh, reading it.

I was up all night, too, crying. How can anybody be so cruel and so insensitive?

Not exactly the term I'd use for this low life ignorant lowdown f'ing [censored]. BUT, what goes around

Funny, I was pretty distraught last night, of course it shows this morning and I had to go to the
dentist. (laugh) The hygienist kept asking, are you okay, thinking I was deathly ill or something. I
was like, believe me! now I'm fine, having read the great news.

I didn't think the hospice thing made any sense; sepsis either kills you or it doesn't. But since I
didn't know what other preexisting medical problems Michael might have had, I didn't want to
    presume anything.

I'm glad to hear he's actually doing better; that's very encouraging, but he's not necessarily out
    of the woods yet.

    Best regards, Bob
