  1. Just for interest, what is your bandwidth?

    It seems to vary greatly here

    Here are some results from http://www.beelinebandwidthtest.com/ which
    is locate in Nieuwegein, Nederlands.

    And although my box comes up number 2, I still consider it pretty
    shabby since I pay for a 28 Mega connection

    This table lists only ISPs whose native language is French. Other
    language comparisons are available.

    Not on that, there are numerous reasons why I can't move data down the pipe
    at certain times of the day although I have a high speed DSL package, but
    there is something else that has always fascinated me about networks.
    Something that might make the Internet a great place if implemented on a
    wide scale. Of course that will never happen, can't happen, not practical
    and cost is prohibitive, but millions of routers sort of do the same thing,
    it's a dynamic process, not static design like a Mesh. If routers hit a
    bottleneck, they usually find another way, but I can't imagine building a
    Mesh Network between major nations of the world, not enough copper of fiber
    in the world to do that, but I do find Mesh Networks intriguing.

    University of Merced uses routers and switches to isolate certain segments
    of administrative buildings on their high speed fiber network, but no Mesh,
    I am sure. I took a quick down and dirty lesson in splicing fiber once when
    the college went from copper to fiber, pretty cool.

    Sonet rings are not new, and you couldn't pass a CCIE exam either, so you
    probably know very little as well compared to a CCIE. I haven't passed it,
    and don't give a [censored] about it either. This is just an OT post in a
    bicycling group. Networking is just a remote hobby that isn't even remotely
    important to me. Go to Cisco forum if you want to challenge someone about
    networking topology. I was just curious about Mesh networks, so chill.
