Not on that, there are numerous reasons why I can't move data down the pipe
at certain times of the day although I have a high speed DSL package, but
there is something else that has always fascinated me about networks.
Something that might make the Internet a great place if implemented on a
wide scale. Of course that will never happen, can't happen, not practical
and cost is prohibitive, but millions of routers sort of do the same thing,
it's a dynamic process, not static design like a Mesh. If routers hit a
bottleneck, they usually find another way, but I can't imagine building a
Mesh Network between major nations of the world, not enough copper of fiber
in the world to do that, but I do find Mesh Networks intriguing.

Some cities might use them if they have thecash, or elite large communities who can throw a lot of cash into theirinfrastructure for local government and law enforcement. Don't expect thirdworld countries to be using them. The idea that the Internet could work thisway is fascinating, but vastly cost prohibitive to say the least. Howeverrouters work amazing well, but if say when New Orleans was down fromKatrina, a mesh network would allow more parts of New Orleans to runindependently from effected areas. I think Mesh networks are cool ifbandwidth is readily available, a mesh network would be really robust and aextremely dynamic way of communicating. Some Universities might be usingMesh Networks. Our community college used both a Bus and Token ring beforeit became outdated, and went to a high speed fiber network. I bet the newUniversity of Merced uses routers and switches to isolate certain segementsof administative buildings on their high speed fiber network, but no Mesh, Iam sure. I took a quick down and dirty lesson in splicing fiber once whenthe college went from copper to fiber, pretty cool.GBMT
