The top hat was originally developed as a primitive crash-helmet for horse riding. This was the
early, lower crowned top hat - the later very tall ones would of course be no use at all. So wearing
it when cycling would be very suitable.

Yes. I try to go cycling on Christmas Day too, this year however I will be on holiday without
my bike so I'll go skiing instead - with a santa hat of course, which will be most appropriate
in Lapland
