  1. I've got a very lightweight, low-tech nylon windshell that has mesh on the sides of the torso and
all the way down the underside of the arms. I love it, but it's about ten years old and close to
    falling apart.

Does anyone make a shell jacket like that?

I think nearly all the major running clothing manufacturers have good lightweight mesh lined shells.
I have a Pearl Izumi Escape jacket, I'd recommend this or the Flash jacket if you want something
more reflective. List of brands that make this sort of thing: Pearl Izumi, Sugoi, Asics, NB, Sport
    Hill, Nike, Insport.

Two features I'd look for are pockets and reflective material. I'd look for something in the $90-130
    price bracket.

    Cheers,

Was in some large running stores last night looking for tops. I checked out the jackets while I was
there. Adidas make jackets with mesh armpits. Sugoi make some with mesh armpits too. On Sugoi's
website, they have some jackets that have zippers under the arm. Didn't see anything that matched
that description, the Adidas jacket was probably the closest.

  4. Last year I got an Insport vest/shell with mesh sides. I like it quite a bit, except that it runs a
bit large (like a lot of clothing these days).

In any case, I've been very pleased with Insport (I've gotten other stuff from them as well) . I
don't know if they have exactly what you are looking for, but you should take a look. The clothing
at their website seems to change reasonably frequently, so if they don't have it now, they might at
    some later date.

I have this as well and it gets a lot of use. Great item with a range of applications. Very helpful
    for the in-between 40F-50F range.

I second this. I've purchased a lot of stuff from these people. Great merchandize and service. Check
their "on sale" section for really attractive prices on overstocked or discontinued items. Many
great bargains to be found there many times. Also, their shipping charges are reasonable and
    delivery is usually very quick.

Another place to check out is Moss Brown. They sell perhaps the ultimate in cold weather Gore
    Tex clothing.

    Good luck,

    Robert

Doh! FWIW, I think if the material is breathable (his cheapo nylon jacket probably wasn't), you'll
do just fine without mesh sides, which is why few running jackets have them.

It may be worth taking a look at foot locker. They do have cheapo nylon jackets which may or may not
have mesh sides. I recall seeing such a jacket somewhere (don't know where but pretty sure it wasn't
a running jacket or a running gear store).

Thanks for the tip, just checked in there and picked up matching tops for my significant other and I

[censored]. They work, and they work well. Try things before dissing them.

Wobbot, you're speaking to Donovan, not Doug. Isn't it a bit early to be drunk?

Yes, but not to be stoned. Of course it applys to either one of them, so how could I be wrong?
