It was. But breathable windshell material isn't _as_ breathable as mesh.

In any case, I'm getting a Hind Highlight shell to replace my old jacket -- it has lycra

Sounds great. I did a fairly substantial search for you on this (I was in a store with a large
running section when this thread started) and I could find some jackets with mesh armpits and some
with the stretch side-panels (like the hind jacket) but none with the mesh right down the side, so I
think the Hind jacket is probably one of your better options.
