Geezus. Poor Martin! A fractured pelvis is a painful and
uncomfortable injury.

Commiserations and best wishes for a quick recovery. Our neighbours son
did something similar on ice a few years ago and made a full recovery.
Hopefully Martin will follow his example.

Tim,

Pass on my wishes for a sppedy recovery to Martin; it's not that long
ago that I did a load of vinyl transfers for him.

Both my wife and myself know what a broken pelvis feels like.

He will need to flex his buttock muscles to pull it all together. a 50p
piece between the 'cheeks' focuses the attention to keep the muscles
tensioned.

I used a recumbent style turbo trainer placed in front of the settee
during recovery ... worked wonders

that used to work for Patrick Schils in the early 90s? Can anyone
advise? And, if this is the case, perhaps someone would be kind enough
to pass on the best wishes of Simon Daw, formerly of Buckley-Saxon
Cycles.

Commiserations to martin, get well soon

I fell off twice on saturday, very little damage done because the
speed was slow. wet leaves and drizzle.
I am putting some treaded fatter tyres on number two bike for the
winter.

Depends on the type of fracture - in this sort of crash it's quite
common for the head of the femur to punch through the base of its socket
leaving the rest of the pelvis intact.

Ouch, nasty! I last saw him on PBP. He was extremely fit there and
really flying - too quick for me at any rate. I hope this won't set

Much sympathy. It's the second anniversary of my big crash today, so I know
what it feels like.

I also know something of what he's thinking. Is his bike OK?

Update:

Martin had a 6 hour operation a couple of weeks ago to fix his
acetabulum, wot got busted when he hit the road. Mecanno was
involved.

As he says himself "My extreme fitness is really helping my body
recover quickly."

He's now been discharged home

Which is Good News.

When my legs were bolted back together the consultant and his gang
gathered around my bed saying things like "remarkable" when I was moving
them the next day. Unfortunately I've not regained that level of
fitness since.

Thanks all for you wishes. I had two operations before I was
discharged, the second to remove one of the screws that was inserted
during the first op. They didn't remove it but decided it would be OK
after all. I hope they are right. My leg is very sore still due to the
manipulation it suffered during the second op. It is muscle soreness
to parts that were not damaged in the crash. Day by day my situation
improves, once the swelling and soreness goes I shall be eager to get
on with the physiotherapy.

One in my knee worked loose until it was sticking out through the skin -
they took it out and my leg didn't drop off. :-)
