Thanks all for you wishes. I had two operations before I was
discharged, the second to remove one of the screws that was inserted
during the first op. They didn't remove it but decided it would be OK
after all. I hope they are right. My leg is very sore still due to the
manipulation it suffered during the second op. It is muscle soreness
to parts that were not damaged in the crash. Day by day my situation
improves, once the swelling and soreness goes I shall be eager to get
    on with the physiotherapy.

Good to hear that you are on the mend. How soon can you get back on a bike?

    The news from there is:

"Martin (MSeries) had an accident whilst out cycling yesterday and is
currently in Hull Royal Infirmary with a fractured pelvis sad. We were
riding Martin's Humber Bridge DIY 200 when the accident happened on
the approach to the Bridge just outside Hessle. Going around a sharp
right hand bend his rear wheel slid from under him and he fell heavily
on his right hip. He's currently in traction awaiting a CT scan to
    determine further treatment. "

Best wishes for a swift and complete recovery, Martin. Like you I'm
convinced that it was partly fitness and strength at the end of a season
of cycling which helped me to recover so well, but it's depressing how
quickly that fitness goes during your enforced idleness. My advice is to
get back to exercising - however gently - as soon as they'll let you.

Don't let boredom get you down.
