Since when is any electronic gadget an investment? Unless the electronic
device is some rare antique which would have a chance of increasing in
value, I would hardly call it an investment. Let alone a new Iphone. An
investment is money invested via stock broker, banker, trustee or other
financial entity or person in order to keep and/or create wealth.

Precisely. People call impulse purchases "investments" in hopes of
making it sound less like a waste of money.

There have been few sadder things in the news lately than the stories
about the blockheads who waited in line to get the first iPhone.

I had to wonder, if, just minutes before the thing went on sale, if someone
came out and said "we made a mistake, they are $200 more" would they have
just paid it? My guess is most would say yes.

I don't have a Cell, and I still prefer a rotary, with keypads I often

Why do people talk so loud on Cells... don't those things operate
properly... probably haven't perfected that technology. And since I
can almost always hear what they talking about I'm baffled as to why
they need to be talking, they say nothing, absolutely nothing worth
saying... I truly believe they have an addiction to their own voice..

I average about two phone calls a day, and usually informational
(store hours, etc.) or to make an appointment; doctor, auto service,
etc. or place a mail order. I make few personal calls and they're
brief, usually less than five minutes. What do people have to talk
about that they need to be on the phone constantly.. how many times a
day do they need to give someone a weather report. Most folks use the
phone to argue... too cowardly for a face to face because they can't
hang up... they obviously they haven't the skills for a civil
discussion. There is no such thing as a "personal" phone call. And
naturally the reason for phone sex is because they haven't the skills
for sex in the flesh.

I wish I knew the answer. All I can tell you is when I talk in what I
think is a normal voice, I get a lot of Huh, can't hear you. I
suspect one of two things are possible culprits
1. The (listening) volume on their cellphone isn't turned up properly
2. Their hearing is shot from listening to the tv, radio, ipod etc at
full blast.

We are quickly becomining a nation of deaf people due to direct and
sustained abuse of our eardrums.
