I just bought a new pan. Boy is it great. It sits on the stove. It
gets hot when I turn up the heat. It cools off when I turn the heat
off. I'm not sure what to do with it in-between those times, but boy
is it great!

I think the most recent thing was one of those grid onion
choppers. I keep wondering if it will break but it has survived
for a year now, works well and survives the dishwasher.James Silverton

The 'gizmo' I really like is a 'garage sale' special my dad found and
gifted to me. It's a Krups "Il Primo" espresso maker. It's not a fancy
or very pricey gadget, but it does the job (for me) and I use it daily
with few exceptions.Sky

Chatty CathyI just ordered a spice/coffee grinder from Baker's Catalogue. Cool
thing about it is that the bowl is removable for washing, so I'll be
maintaining one grinder instead of two.David

I've bought too many things in the last few months. Too embarrassed to
list. ;-)I like your pot you bought. Will you be using it on a cooktop that has an
oval shaped burner?

My most recent acquisitions were a bow saw and a hatchet (seems my Son
took those items from me a few years ago). I will use them to cut wood
for my smoker so they qualify as kitchen gizmos. At least to my way of
thinking. My son made up for taking my old bow saw and hatchet by suppling me with
several largish oak tree limbs for my smoker. Without his knowlege as he
wasn't home when I 'trimmed' his trees. Before those items (purchased just today) the last acquisition was a
heavy rubber mallet to use when driving my cleaver thru tough stuff like
spaghetti squashes and bones and for general purpose between saran wrap
sheets chicken breast flattening.I'm smoking another pork butt roast today..an experiment I'm trying to
keep the temp under 200F. Seems I read somewhere smoke stops being absorb
after the surface temperature of the meat reaches 200F or so...a testing
is in the making. And oak is a mild smoke so ...why not. I got a good
deal on several boneless pork butt roasts as well so it's a win win
situation.I figure about 4 hours under 200F for smoking then up the temp for final
cooking to say 250 to 300F till pullable.

You probably could have picked one up from Ebay for $1.99. And it
wouldn't have been plastic ;-)Have fun....I still use my grandma's old round glass thingie with a

I don't have the gizmos yet, but I'm looking for either a battery operated
or electric nut grinder. I don't want a huge one that takes up half my
counter. Just a little hand held one. I can't seem to find one anywhere.I also want a hand-held mixer with a build in timer. I saw one in someplace
like Wal-Mart that had a built in 5 min. timer. I thought it was the
coolest idea. Of course, it was gone when I went back to get it and no one
had ever heard of it.--

IN Stockholm earlier this summer I bought a couple of Swedish-made
potato peelers. They stay sharp and work forever if your kids don't run
off with them.I also bought some porcelain French boiled egg dishes which I had seen
everywhere at breakfast and admired.gloria p

Remember I was on the hunt for an ice cream maker that didn't need
salt and ice? I bought the one and a half quart Cuisanart today. The
footprint is larger than I wanted, but at least it's a lot quieter
than the old fashioned type ice cream makers.Unfortunately, I learned aboutone that you don't need to freeze the
bowl. No waiting 24 hours. All you do is add a little water and salt
under the bowl and the machine does the rest.I may eventually succumb. Maybe sooner than later.
