Got my Baracudda goggles!

Let me know how they work out for you. I first
had Speedo goggles with the optical correction.
They stopped making that style. I tried their
new style but it didn't work too well. So I found
something from Tyr. That's been working pretty
well (not as clear as the Speedo's though). Finally
I got some no-name ones from a local swim shop
where I got to pick different powers for each eye.
Those are pretty comfy and clear. Of these, the
Speedo's have started to leak (but that is after more
than 4 years). The Tyr's aren't too comfy. Nowadays
I'm swimming with the no-name ones.

How much did you pay? Mine have all been
in the $20-$30 range.

Paid $53 incluidng $10 for shipping.... total was $63

I got he negative 4.5 correction

well I tried out my barracuda goggles last night and
they leak for some reason

will keep messing with them and see if I can adjust
them so they don't leak

any advice on this?

Don't know what to tell you. I've never had much luck with
goggles. I've tried a lot of them, and they either hurt or
leak. Something non-standard about the shape of my face, I
guess. Seals work ok for me, but I doubt they come in
prescription.

yep.... no vision correction on the seals.....but may
have to go with them anyway

so you have NOT had good luck with goggles where the
eye pieces are separate "cups" huh?

the one piece seal design works better for you?

Yes, that's right. But that's just my face shape. I have
friends who can just pick up any pair of goggles, and they
always fit. So this is entirely an individual issue.

There was one separate-cups design that worked pretty well
for me, but didn't last long. I can't remember which one it
was, but it used lots of foam as the sealing mechanism.

This is a long shot, but it might be possible to find some
closed-cell foam, and cut out donuts you could insert
between your face and the goggles, and that might give you a
good seal.

It takes a few wearings for the barracuda's to adapt and fit to your
face. NEVER let anyone else "just let me try them"!

I don't have the rx ones--just the B300 and the B200. I find that if
I don't wear them for a few weeks (going from indoor to outdoor
swimming)--they leak just a little bit until my face "heats" up the
foam. One thing to be aware of is "funky" foam. My winter pair
(clear) has white foam that always has a bit of a mold condition (I
sometimes take a q-tip of bleach/water to it). the summer pair--same
white foam--no funk. I always hang them up to dry after rinsing and
they hang side by side.

They mold to your facial structure. Give it time.

Yes, and try making the strap a bit tighter, too. Because they are
pushing on your face over a relatively wide area, you can get away with
the strap being a bit tighter.
