I'm just wondering if anyone has a similar allergy that I have, what
they do about it. I don't carry around an epi-pen, I just watch what
I eat and usually I can get away with it. I've never gone to get this
tested. Sometimes I've just gone ahead even when I felt symptoms, if
the food was really worth it. And then I just 'ride it out' until it
has passed.
My allergy is most to fried eggs, as in scrambled eggs. Hard-boiled
eggs don't appear to be a problem for me, however I've pretty much
given up all forms of pure egg.
Recently I found that some of the 'richer' cakes and cookies also give
me the same allergic reactions. In the past, this wasn't a problem.
I wonder if my body has just weakened to all forms of eggs in general
over time.
My symptoms are the feeling that my throat is shrinking (the food
tube, not the air tube), and I get a lot of phlegm build up. If I get
a larger dose of egg, I'll start to get chest pains, feeling like
someone is standing on top of my chest while I'm lying down. It's a
little difficult to breathe but not too bad. Hurts more on the inhale
than the exhale.
Anyway it's like I said, I don't carry an allergy pen and usually if
I've eaten something that turns out to have egg in it, I'll just stop
eating and ride out the symptoms. It's not bad, I don't think it's
fatal or anything, just major discomfort.
