The mostly LX groupset on my MTB bike is in constant need of repair or replacement - maybe only does a couple of races and trails before the gears need re-indexing, chain or cassette needs replacing, etc.
I'm considering replacing the lot with an XT groupset (or maybe bit by bit as items break) and was wondering whether the difference between XT and XTR is worthwhile in terms of strength and mean time between failure/lastability/able to 'just work' without another trip to the bike shop - I'm not that bothered about overall weight, and the price difference looks hefty, but not prohibitively so if it's worth it?

What are you doing to it? I've found bogoo Deore very very durable, given decent maintenance and full length cable outers.

I found XTR weaker than XT these days - it seems to be honed to F1 levels where it blows up if treated at all badly. XT seems bombproof and almost as light. I always go XT if i can affort it.
