  1. I'm trying to find out what vitamins (if any), minerals (if any), etc.
are in ground turkey. I searched Google using several search phrases this
morning but can only find basic info like calories, fat, cholesterol,
    protein, etc.

    Can anyone suggest a source?

    TIA

Like all animal products, turkey should contain B vitamins, like niacin
and a little B12. It should also contain some heme iron in the form of
myoglobin, and calcium from the inevitable bone meal if it's
    "mechanically separated" meat.

But I'm not an expert so don't quote me. ;-)

    from there.

There is also on this site a downloadable database on many (many
    thousands) foods nutritional values.

Thanks for the good site; I bookmarked it for the future.

I know it is loaded with tryptophan, which can make you sleepy.

You can't quote dynamic URL's. And Tinyurl was unnecessary.

    <http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/>

Whatever happened to just quoting the URL's so people know where
    they're going?

    ---------
The trptophan is concentrated in the dark muscle meat.

I vaguely remember "Einstein" Alton Brown declaring that trypophan wasn't the
sleep culprit in turkey. Sorry, I forgot his claim.

There is absolutely no way to know what/who is in mystery meat.
Unless YOU ground the turkey YOURSELF there is no answer, none. And
as to what's in it, why would anyone who buys preground meat even
care... I mean you're a self proclaimed dumpster diving [censored] eater,
    every preground turkey eater is.
