What with closing up the business and moving to a new house with much
work needed to it, I've only been doing shortish trips on the bikes for
some time. Supermarket, recycling centre, diy store, that sort of
thing. Now with Pedal for Scotland looming in September I thought it
best to put in a few rides around the 50 mile mark, so I started today.
For those who know the area, the route was Perth - Stanley - Caputh -
Dunkeld - Amulree - Sma' Glen - Gilmerton - Madderty - Perth. 52 miles
and virtually every one a scenic gem. I can't say too often how lucky I
am to live in this part of the world. (What do you mean I just did?)
Took me just on 4.5 hours, so on that basis I should be able to finish
PforS firmly in the middle of the pack, as usual. For anyone interested
in the health of the British tourism industry, I note that I hardly saw
a living soul in some of our most beautiful countryside, in the heart of
summer.
