I have a Record narrow chain joined by a Superlink. There is a link
somewhere in the chain that is sticky - or at least that's the
symptomatic manifestation when I ride. However, off the bike, the
sticky link cannot be seen.
The drivetrain will give a little hiccup and there will be a muted
click/creak. It appears to be associated with a specific link, as it
comes and goes and appears to have something to do with the sticky
link's position in the chain's path and where I am in my pedal
stroke.
I plan on replacing that link with a Wipperman Shimano 10 replaceable
link and ride to see if the link is the problem. But if it turns out
NOT to be the Superlink binding, does anyone have any idea what could
be going on here? I am assuming the rest of the Record chain is
fine. Obviously, that will have to be checked next. But if neither
of those turn out to be the issue, then what?
I had 180 miles of drivetrain hiccups this weekend and found it very
annoying. HELP!
Thanks,
