Here goes:
-Bought a 2004 Litespeed Sienna in 2004. Headset creaked like crazy.
-Replaced everything (this took months to complete) and finally
figured out that the frame headtube was manufactured improperly, so it
would not fully accept the cups.
-Sent the frame to Litespeed ($40) with a detailed letter explaining
the problem and included measurements. Asked for a new headtube.
-Litespeed refused to put in a new headtube and put in new cups
(something that had been done earlier without success)
-I asked them specifically to check measurements on the frame before
sending it back, they refused saying QC would do that.
-The frame came back with one cup very obviously (anyone could see it
with a naked eye) not fully in the frame. (I have pictures if anyone
is interested.)
-Sent the frame back to Litespeed ($40) with a detailed letter asking
for a new frame at proform price.
-Litespeed refused a new frame idea and put in a new headtube. (At
this point I've been without my frame for three months.) When I asked
if they could check to make sure the headtube is faced, they assured
me that QC would check that.
-I made the mistake of _assuming_ the new headtube was installed
correctly. After months of trying different components again, my shop
has shown me that (again to the naked eye) that the headtube is 3
degrees out of alignment compared to the seat tube, and the headtube
is not faced.
-I'd like to just bail on Litespeed altogether and try a different
company.
-I'm sure they will offer to "fix" the problem again, but how often
can Ti be welded without cooking the tubes? Can they even fix the
problem.
