Some people are members of cycling clubs which race more or less seriously;
it's often a requirement to wear your club strip when racing. They may
also want to show their club affiliation when just cycling, or their club
strip may be the only cycling clothes they have Other people are fans of
more serious racing teams and like to wear replica strip of those teams.
You don't think all those kids you see wearing Manchester United football
shirts actually play football for Manchester United, do you?

to unwind after work. Almost every journey I seem to meet one.
You'd be more comfortable in proper cycling clothes, and more visible to
other traffic in brightly coloured ones.
