  1. Arrrgh!

Doesn't Mother Nature know that she's not supposed to start the snow until *I"M* finished with
    riding for the season???

And it happened just a couple of days before a BBQ/Night Ride. I wasn't gonna ride, just enjoy the
BBQ, but still... the indignity of it all. I was hoping that maybe I'd be able to scrounge up a
buddy to go on some tame'ish night rides next year. After all, what better place to meet people that
are interested in night riding than at an actual night ride. I wonder if anybody will actually even
bother to show up, given the snow that is...

Now I'm left with cleaning my hydration packs (does that "green tint" *EVER* really leave the
drinking tube) and doing some clean-up on the bikes and gear. You know, wash gloves, check the
helmet pads (mine are new this year), find the missing socks...etc.

Oh yeah, seeing as how it snowed I guess I might as well start on my "wish list" for Santa.

The one positive thing that I did was take a dozen donuts in to the gang at the lbs. They've been
good to me over the summer/fall.

If only riding wasn't over for the season...

-> If only riding wasn't over for the season... -> wtf is riding season? when it snows you change
clothes and tyres. keep on riding.

I hurt before the ride so fibro gives me a head start on the rest of the pack. silver lining?

Buy studded tires for your mountain bike. You can still ride.

    Rog,

Ride anyway. The snow is a hoot to ride in. And you won't need studded tires until it gets packed
into ice. Until then, just run the biggest knobbies you can fit at the lowest pressure you can
    (without too many pinch flats).

Hint: Bikeman.com has Ritchey 2.35 Kevlars (One of my all time favorite fat tires) for $24.

    Cheers,

That's true -- the studs don't help at all on the snow.

Winter riding can be cool (no pun intended). It's just wet and muddy as hell around here (OR). The change in conditions brings about an opportunity to gain new skills (read: balance and cornering). Now that I've said that I'm truthfully on my snowboard so much once there's snow at the Pass or Bachelor I don't have much time for my poor neglected bikes. I do love the riding this time of year (and spring) though when there is little to no snow at the boarding areas, but the rains are in effect and the masses are huddled by their fireplaces. Anyway, good luck making it through this rough patch for you.

Give a little thought to what you're doing to your trails. Every spring the more newbie-friendly
trails around here are totally ripped to [censored] because people ride them wet.

Ummmm, we don't really ride newbie trails and there are plenty of trails that drain well enough to have riding on them, plenty, look around. You could say we give more than a little thought to our actions as a general rule, but I have seen trail "excessive" trail damage during the wet season. The vast majority of that appears to come from folks riding OFF the trail in particularly difficult spots and creating a "new" drainage where there should not be and that can cause the puddling (if that's a word) and funky erosion that jacks-up the trails. Spread the message to stay on the trail maybe. Many won't listen in my experience, but we (you as well) can keep saying it.

The trails that I ride are all XC-ski trails once the snow falls. The non-XC trails I don't ride
in the summer anyways... so no point in riding them in the snow... not that I could
    anyway...<weak grin>

As long as you're giving thought to how the trail is affected by your use, you probably aren't
tearing up the trails and its probably not an issue. I just see a lot of evidence of people up here
    who don't.

Back to the topic of snow (a non-issue for us web-footed ones).

Boofreakinhoo. Grow-up and be a father/positive role model. We can go on, but I suggest you take care of your own junk first. You are the self-appointed ruler of CO, so what's to worry about? Other than someone not impressed by your language or threats. I thought nothing bothered you cyber pros.

They told me I would be getting the webbing after a few years here, but so far no new skin. It's only been 5 years though, maybe I have to wait longer. It sure didn't take that long for my tolerance for high altitudes to leave me. 9 or 10K feet didn't always sound too high, but now it's waayyy up there!

So, what can some anonymous USENET tough guy offer as advice? Gotta get your digs in, huh? Geez,
man, just get over yourself already.

Which is very easy when you hide behind your monitor. Anybody can be a tough guy on the 'net.

It's a "put up or shut up" challenge. So far, you have flapped your virtual yap and not produced
anything of substance. You're nobody, and nobody cares at all what your problem is. Next time
you're in E. WA state, give me a call. I'd love to see how tough you talk when you're not crouched
    over a keyboard.

Is the picture brightening, dimbulb, or do you need more clarification?

I have no worries scumbag, which is why I have repeatedly asked you to back up your accusations. You
sure do seem to be worried about me, what I do, or have to say. Your unsubstantiated claim that I
have done "terrible things" here is nothing more than an attribute of your true nature.
