I'd value input from you all as to what to do in this scenario (which
happened this afternoon):
- End of club run, group strung out, approaching a railway bridge that's
single carriageway
- Motorist (high gear engine sreaming) overtakes part of group but not
safely as bridge is imminent
- Gets alongside me, edges past, starts pulling over towards curb and
nearside bridge wall (only the driver is past me, the rest if the car is
not!)
- Pulls further across me, front wheel bounding off kerb, still not past
- I tap on rear left window of car with knuckles three times to let driver
know he's just about to squash me
- Driver slows up, doesn't move out, winds window down and starts tirade of
threats as to what will happen to me if I touch his beloved car again (I
don't respond - somewhat shocked, and also by now being forced almost into
hedge, as bridge has been passed over, and the road is now wide enough for
two cars)
- Driver leaves me alone without causing me physical injury and revs up to
behind the next cyclist, who he cuts up similarly.
The question is - I have the guys registration number - do I report the
incident to our friends in blue, or just be grateful that no injury ensued
and leave it at that - I guess I'm wondering if it's worth the hassle, and
whether any action is likely to be taken?
Cheers,
Chris
