  1. I'm off for a couple weeks cycling holiday soon. It's probably going to be a
non-lycra holiday, so I was thinking of padded underpants under baggy
    shorts.

Has anyone any experience of them?

    Thx

    Peter

Yes. They're good, but rather expensive. Endura make them.

Aldi/lidl have done cheap ones, but I've no experience - not being a bike
shop I'm reluctant to let those in the queue know that I want padded
    underwear :-/

Why would you need padded underpants?

I wear these often, when cycling to a pub or somewhere else where
lycra would be inappropriate. They do the job. Several makes available
on Wiggle and most similar sites. I think most of them are fine but
avoid those which are mostly cotton (eg Altura) - they get damp and
soggy in use and they take longer to dry, which is important when
    touring.

Just wear your lycra under your baggy shorts.

Maybe too warm, I was thinking.

I'm now imagining Tony's lycra 'briefs'...

Great for cycling, I use them all the time, but hot and sweaty when you
    stop.

Surely cyclists have not one all that sissy, when I was an active cyclist we
all wore ordinary underpants, and cycled for a hundred miles at a time, with
no problems, so why do you think you NEED padded underwear?

Do women also wear padded underwear these days?

30 years ago I didn't either, but after a long break and a return the
padding does make things more comfortable, and why not be comfortable.

Some do and I guess that some don't.

So it's available, but as to whether they buy and wear them...
