Hey guys, I got to thinking. What have been the biggest arguments around?
Helmets? Aero wheels? Frame flex/comfort/materials? Campy vs. Shimano?
Can you think of any that I've missed?

Chain cleaning. Shimmy.
And guns. Helmet wars inevitably lead to raging flamefests about guns. This is one of the abiding

Apparently the cost of your bike is of concern to many. See "Critique requested" thread in this NG.
Also "How many gears is enough?" and "Will my new bike make me faster?"

Funny, years ago I remember a thread similar to this and somehow Meryl Streep was involved. Someone
asked, "What does Meryl Streep have to do with bicycling?"

I would have to say frame material and ride quality. If I had a dime for every time someone said
"The ride quality on my Ti frame is the greatest! or steel is so compliant!"

Helmet wars inevitably lead to raging flamefests to which other controversial topics are drawn by
pure gravitational attraction. Let a helmet war spin up enough energy and it will pull in abortion,
the future of the State of Israel, hate speach, and much else besides.
In any case I can't understand why you USians get so excited about the right to bare arms. We have
t-shirts this side of the Atlantic too.

The thing that gets me is the US getting all excited about bare everything else... I've seen some
Euro TV...
Nope, can't show erect nipples (through a shirt) on TV. That's immoral.

Dear Durward,
Guns? Good Lord, you mean these fellows have guns?
My, I'd better watch whose toes I tread on around here even more carefully or someone will plug me
in the back while I'm reaching for the "send" button.
I plan to sit with my back to the wall from now on. Wild Bill didn't and look what happened to him.
Now stand back and nobody move--I'm getting up and walking out of this post.
