Watch out for traffic cones pulling out on you. Or traffic lights falling
over. And if you're blown somewhere unhelpful, be ready to stop (if
necessary by falling off).

That's my list of severe wind-related incidents anyway :-)

I can also reveal that a cross-current in water, eg that found at gate
entrances alongside a flooded lane, is quite interesting.

Following the successful passage of the "Cycling and Tornados" bill this
afternoon, all tornados will now be required by law to be fitted with
blue "Cyclists Dismount" signs.

An opposition amendment that would have required tornados to wear
helmets when near cyclists was narrowly defeated however.

If the winds of the tornado are fast enough, pehaps you could do a slingshot
effect to go back in time, a per STTNG slingshot around the sun...

Wasn't mythical for me this morning. An effortless 25 mph for much of
the way. According to the weather charts it was meant to be a headwind.
That doesn't happen very often. And judging by the flag on the Chubb
building across the road it's shaping up for a fairly stiff tailwind
home too.

Tomorrow's planned ride should have a tail wind all the way from
Aylesbury to Cambridge to Bury St. Edmunds, but the last bit coming
home could well be into the teeth of a gale.

I almost hate to inject a serious response here, but this deserves a
response even if from leftpondia.

Take cover. Lay down in a ditch or go inside a sturdy building to a
window-less room (toilets or closets recommended). Most tornado victims
aren't blown to Oz, they're killed or injured by flying debris -- glass
windows make excellent shrapnel. And give it a few minutes afterward
before emerging so all that debris can fall without hitting you.
