    maybe the guy who's still looking for a 23.4mm seatpost could make one
    from it?

    I will point out that ACC weighs less per unit volume than carbon fiber
    composite. Maybe the techno-geek bicycle folks will fall for it as the
    newest thing in lightweight biking. And for the guy trying to braze up
    his own frame, he can use his woodworking hand tools to shape an ACC frame.

    Gold has better self damping, is more resistant to corrosion and helps
    your sprung/unsprung weight ratio by being denser than any of them at
    19.3g cm^-3 (1210lb/cu.ft.)

    Even so, a solid gold frame with conventional 'tube' ODs would weigh
    only about 40kg

    I was thinking more along the lines of tantalum or tungsten.

    Hills might be killer but remember there's always the backside! ;-)

    DU has some drawbacks, especially if you ever want to have kids...

    A polymer coating would stop the alpha radiation. DU is safe when
    covered with a barrier that stops alpha radiation (intact powder
    coating would likely be sufficient) and not ingested. The real danger
    comes from DU when it burns and forms oxide particles that can be
    inhaled.

    DU has some drawbacks, especially if you ever want to have kids...

    DU does not emit much ionizing radiation, and that is
    alpha rays that can be stopped by paint. However in
    2000-10000 years U238 (half life 4e9 years) decay
    products build up to hazardous levels.

    Tungsten provides better radiation shielding and has a higher density
    than lead.
