Silly question- if it's Sugino, then it fits a JIS spindle- which is to
say it fits the same spindle as a Super Mighty crank.

IIRC, the Maxy cranks were less precise than the forged Super Mighty
cranks. I've also seen quite a few Maxy cranks ruined because they
weren't tightened properly at first. If your Maxy crank goes onto the
spindle too far, it's ruined.

Not necessarily. IIRC, some Maxy series cranks used with a 3 deg. taper,
and others used a 2 deg. taper. 2 deg. is what Super Mighty, Campy,
Shimano, etc. used but then again Maxy spindles tended to be a bit
longer than others.

The only way to be sure is to test fit the parts. An arm designed for a
3 deg. axle will bottom out on a 2 deg. axle. Axle length will also have
to be tested. If the arm sits too close to the frame because it was
designed to use you'll have to use spacers and/or a longer axle to make
it work properly.

spindle, maybe 126mm.
