Google has "improved" it's newsgroup reader with a newer, stupider, and
more AOL like reader for it's "Groups".
I'm still running the Windows and the IE browser most of the time so
wanna point me to a good newsreader service that actually wasn't
designed by jackasses?
Alternately does anyone out there have any idea how to kill the
sidebar in the new Google Groups Beta that covers 1/3 of the message,
or get anything else to return something other than "File Not Found"
from this POS?
Thanks for the help

Bill CJust use Agent. It's a perfectly capable email and newsgroup program and comes
in a free version. The parent company also offers a very affordable news server.
Or you surely get a news server with your internet service provider. Usually
those aren't too dreadful for the nonbinary groups. If you're going to download
music or vids you'll want something better than the free server from your ISP,
but if you just want to argue with dumbasses it should work fine.Ron

If so use a local news reader client instead of a web browser and find
out what news really looks like and how powerful it can be with proper
tools like: Opera, Thunderbird, X-News, Outlook Express, Free Agent...
If multiple computer use is a problem try "Thunderbird Portable"
(Windows only).News server settings for any of the above clients

* Your Verizon Online user name
* Your Verizon Online password -

firewall that won't let me connect to a news server. -

Gravity? http://sourceforge.net/projects/mpgravity/I've always thought browser-based newsreaders were a poor substitute
for a dedicated news client. I've used Agent (www.forteinc.com) for
years.I'll second Simon's recommendation for Firefox.

Already had Firefox loaded, just don't use it much. Grabbed Thunderbird
and gonna move on from there.
Appreciate all the good suggestions.
