Nice but....

Assuming a fan diameter of 100mm and an absolutely ideal turbine and
generator you can just about make the 0.17W at 8 MPH
The power output goes a the cube of speed, so a bit faster is a lot
better, but still I'd say viability is marginal.

0.17W isn't enough to ride by. You need about a 1W LED for that, and
even then it's marginal.

It comes with a handlebar mount for bicycle use,
but I'm wondering if I get caught out in a rain, is it water resistant,
water proof, or will the ultrasonic wind sensors suffer?

Hub dynamos. Yes, there's still a teeny bit of drag, but at least it's
pretty much only that needed to power the lamp, not the horrid friction
drag of the old-style bottle dynamos. Those were definetly works of
one of Stan's close relatives!

Anything involving batteries that need to be replaced more than once
every couple of months is evil.

Some Evil Vile Creature (me) left my headlight on and, once again, the
batteries are dead. What's even dumber, it's on a low speed electric bike
that carries a ton of excess power for one stinking bulb. I need to order
in a 36V bulb and wire it directly into a switch drawing power from the main
system. Then the problem of batteries is a bust.

Of course, I am also planning on adding stop lights and turn signals. Why
not?
