Anyone coming out for a ride tomorrow? I've been out of action for a few
weeks so looking forward to some hills, even if I do go up them a little
slowly.

Bikesoiler may turn up in a few weeks. He reckons the "recovery time" spent since the last Alpine is over & it's prob time to stop tapering.

I think I might do the Bikelife ride instead. The previous 2 BR's I've done have been me solo (in fine conditions!) and, me and Ritcho for the other.

Solo ride today but strangely there were two other groups starting from
our Doncaster starting point. Sunny, no wind, warm, so a great morning
for a ride except for one thing. Those BLOODY MAGPIES!! Previous two
years have had no magpies on the BR route but today I copped one at the
bottom of the big hill at the roundabout near the Warrandyte fire
station, then another one just after Kangaroo Ground. From then on
paranoia set in, and I was constantly trying to avoid every bird that
flew by. Eventually decided the magpies had ruined my day and turned off
at Panton Hill for home.

I gave the BR a miss 'cos I'm on the Gold Coast for the half-ironman... too bad I missed out on a qualifying spot by about half a dozen places. The PB was a nice consolation, so I guess I'll have another crack in Shepparton in December.
Oh yes, Chris McCormack broke the race record by about ten minutes - which included laughing and waving to the other competitors on the run leg (going the other way, of course).

Oh dear. You just confessed to being a triathlete.

I'd consider that a valid excuse. Where were all the rest of you wusses?

Not that I'm a regular or anything but I've been training for Around the Bay on Saturdays 150 km+ each week for the past 10 weeks. So I'm too stuffed to ride Sunday (especially in the hills). I'll probably be doing more BRs after ATB to finally get some hills into the mix.

Ahh yes that reminds me I should spend some time on the flat. Last year
I did all my long rides in the hills, and really struggled to hold a
constant pace on Beach rd for the tri's.
