He soloed up the last climb, was eventually caught by a tremendous, gold jersey-pursuing, surging Vino, but then beat Vino at the finish.
This board is quite negative at times toward Discovery riders, however, and I await postings referring to him sitting on Vino's wheel and other such musings.

Yes, the Vuelta seems to be quite exciting, diminished for me by text summaries and by lingering doping suspicions.

Man, it sounds like it. The race leader stuck with two guys who won't work while second place goes up the road. Little Tommy D showing that maybe, just maybe, the nay sayers spoke too soon. And Little Tommy taking the mighty Vino in sprint. It was pure David v Goliath.

Wow. Tommy D. finally gets a real win in Europe (beating a rider in Austria with diarrhea who stopped on the last climb to take a [censored], got back on his bike, and still beat Danielson to the top does not really count).
I am more impressed with Stijn Devolder. He is like the Kessler of Discovery.
Vino is an animal. He has been more consistent in the mountains than in the past. I never thought he would win a GT because he always has a bad day in the mountains. It should be quite the showdown tomorrow between Vino and Valverde.

Yeah... Valverde has to put, at least, one minute in Vino. I think we could see alliance between Illes Baleares and Saunier Duval, they both have great interest to destroy Kazakhs - Valverde to pass Vino and Marchante to try to pass Kashechkin.
