Been there, done that. You lose the tapering for one thing. For another,
the two pieces (assuming you cut a patch in half) aren't the greatest shape.

I just use the bigger patches, but smaller patches would be preferable for me
too.

What you want is a box of Maruni BB-Patch patches.

They're made by Maruni Industries in Japan.

They're only 24mm in diameter - perfect for bicycle patching. Find a
local distributor and buy a box of 200. Our bike shops charge 60c each,
but I paid something like 12c when I bought the whole box.

REMA makes 25mm and 15mm patches but has no web site other than retail

The friendly Rivendell folks have them... a bit costly at $10/10 patches
plus glue. It looks like they buy the patches bulk from Velox and
package them with the other bits.

I have a box of 100 of the "1-inch" FO Rema patches.

The size claims are ridiculously confusing.

The carrier is an inch and a quarter square, not an inch.

The round patch is about 20 mm across at the thin orange rim.

The black round center is about 15mm wide.

I just recieved a box of 100 small Rema patches from Bike Tools. Sizes
available include 20 mm round, 1 inch round (25 mm), and 2 inch oval. The
size I usually see available at LBS is the 1 inch, but I like the smaller 20

Now isn't that poor of Google not to find that when searching for
REMA? I'll have to ask the REMA man at InterBike what the letters
stand for. I understand Tip Top alright. This web site doesn't
mention the bicycle product line nor where the mane REMA arose other

click on the detail they show only 25mm patches. Besides, the $3.94
for 20 patches doesn't make clear what size patches these are while
the picture that comes up when clicking on it, shows a 100ea box of
25mm patches.

I grabbed the first URL in a search that gives an
uncomplicated web page offering a practical quantity of
quality small patches. I was not writing a monograph on
tire patching. The OP wants small patches; he can do the
rest of the work. What's 5 mm among friends?

I guess that depends on where you measure. With the small ones, the
black area is 15 mm, the patch altogether 20 mm, and with the larger
ones, 17--19 mm and 23--25 mm (depending on whether you measure
between the tops or the bottoms of the sawtooth edge), all measurements
approximate and applicable manufacturing tolerances apply. The backing
paper is 30 mm square for either size.

I used to be able to get the 20 mm size, 'Innovation" brand patches in
100 ct. boxes. I have been told that Innovations stopped selling this
item several years ago and I didn't find a souce of the 20 mm patches.

I think the Rema actully has them with their tubular tire patch kit,
but not in bulk. I got some of those loose last year at Interbike.
There is also a Chinese company that sells the patch on large sheets
to people who could use them in private label patch kits. The
quantity they offer as a minimum was in the thousands.

Yeah, it's the diameter of the black patch area that is 15 mm. Or less. The
ones I measured are not exactly round. 15 mm across one way, as little as 12
mm across the other. The red-brown colored intermediate layer that is
feathered out does have larger diameter.

I wallowed around at several LBSs trying to find these patches. Buyers
apparently are not particular about what size they stock, and the shops
normally just stock the larger ones. One shop had them available for 25
cents each for a while, but when they were gone they stayed gone. If these
15 mm patches are what the OP wants, then these are what the OP is probably
going to have to insist upon.

I'm guessing Jobst is refering to the REMA F0-P patches, which are
actually 16mm in diameter (but who's quibbling over a lousy 1mm?).

A google search for "rema f0-p" turned up 21 hits. Most of these are
places where you can order these in boxes of 100.

Actually there seems to be some confusion over these, as many of the
found sites list the F0-P patches as 20mm.

Okay, after typing the above I went down and measured the FP-0 patches
in my box of 100. They pretty uniformly measure 18mm. ;-)
