There are programs that will convert from PAL. Nero is one.

DVD-Decrypter will strip region codes. That's a 2 step software process,
which seems suboptimal.

Now I'm on my desktop system, I notice that I normally use DVD Shrink.
That's freeware.

I was trying to refer to other ways of getting movies, but without
getting in trouble with law enforcement. The problem is that
I was so obscure, no one else figured it out.
