So I've seen the damned Renault ad about a hundred times now. It's
fairly obvious that sausage represents German cars, sushi represents
Japanese cars, and bread stick represents French cars, but wtf is the
deal with the crispbread?
Whoooosh... The significance of the different food items went over my
head. All I could think of was thank goodness they don't have ads on
the ABC.
Yet.
You missed the outcry a month back when the new management were
seriously considering it?
SBS was once relatively recently completely ad free. Then they showed
ads for future shows, between shows. Then they showed commercial ads
between shows. Now they're showing commercial ads in shows.
ABC are already up to step 2. I give it a couple of years tops.
I was reading that ads earn SBS $19M annually. And I was reading
something written by one SBS staff who seriously didn't think that
this would then lead the government to reduce the next grant by $19M,
because SBS can now "better support itself". Idiots, the lot of them.
